down hill

as i was running down the hill, just south of my house, i saw a couple walking up the hill. she was so pregnant. and her shoe lace was untied. he bent down and he tied it up for her. she didnt even notice that it was untied in the first place. if i saw them at a party across the room from each other i wouldnt guess them to be together. but here they are.

I could not complete my essay on time, for i was inundated with bubbles and magic this afternoon while editing and was forced to abandon my scholastic endeavors for a life of wonderment and whimsy.

e train westbound

i got on the train, and a lady in a wheelchair got on behind me. she was wearing a hat, and a coat, and had a quilt over her legs. i think she was sixty, but you never can tell. she had bags on her lap. when we rounded a bend one fell to the ground. i helped her pick it up. a corner of the quilt went up with the bag and i saw her feet. her bare feet, no shoes. her toenails were painted bright blue. 

i smiled, but i always smile.
